By Sarah O - Staff Writer

The yellow turban rebellion, started by peasants all over the Han Dynasty, has finally ended. It began in 184 AD when the Zhang brothers started a rebellion against the Chinese government. The brothers gathered over-worked peasants to be a part of their revolt. The rebels wore yellow turbans or scarves around their heads, this then named their rebellion, The Yellow Turban Rebellion. At the time of the rebellion, the Han Dynasty's government was weakening and peasants were being over worked and heavily taxed. Due to the taxes, people were suffering from starvation and poverty all across the dynasty. The Zhang brothers were strong Taoism believers and wanted the people of the Han Dynasty to follow a Taoist lifestyle. With all the trouble in the Dynasty's government, the three brother found their chance to plan the revolt. They started by making alliances within the emperors court itself. The rebellion begin right under Emperor Ling's rule without anyone knowing. The three brothers were very successful in their revolt and even began to take over the government of the Han Dynasty. Luckily for the Dynasty, the brothers' actions were put to a stop when the Zhang brothers were killed and the revolt was put to an end.

Is the Silk Road Really Important to The Han Dynasty?

By Sarah O - Staff Writer

The Silk Road was discovered in about 138 B.C.E by Emperor Wu. It was first invented during the Han Dynasty to help form alliances with other civilizations. It is an ancient trade route that linked China to many countries to the west of it. The Silk Road is longest trade route of the Ancient world and goes from China all the way to Imperial Rome. It provided many jobs for people all over China. Many different kinds of goods are traded by merchants of the silk road, including silk, food, furs, dyes, jade, spices, salt, horses, pepper, tea, spices, and many other foods, and animals. Along with all of the different goods being traded throughout China, the Silk Road also allows ideas, techniques, and religion to spread from different dynasties. The Silk Road helped many countries by sending goods, and new techniques to them, but the Silk Road was more important to the Han Dynasty than any other civilization in all of China.

The Silk Road was very important to the Han Dynasty. It allowed the Dynasty to not only gain more techniques and goods, but also form alliances with other countries along the Silk Road. This was very important because before the Silk Road was discovered, the Han Dynasty didn't have many allies and other Kingdoms in China could have easily invaded and conquered this Dynasty. The Silk Road not only protected the Dynasty, but advanced its culture and techniques. The goods and techniques that were spread all along the silk road helped the Han Dynasty develop skills like glass-making as well as spread their technique of paper-making. Skills like these helped advance the dynasty and allowed citizens to use these new inventions like paper and glass in their work to make everyday life easier. The trading of goods helped the Han Dynasty to get new materials, food, spices, and animals as well as get rid of things that they commonly saw in their life by trading them to other countries in exchange for other things. The Silk Road was very important to the Han Dynasty because it allowed ideas, techniques, and new materials to spread and alliances to form, making the Dynasty a safer place for all of its' citizens.
